Populations of wild deer form an important part of the ecology and cultural history of the Quantock Hills.

The good opportunities especially to observe Red deer, which are far less common in most other parts of England, are valued highly by locals as well as visitors to the area. However, unless carefully managed, excessive deer numbers may build up and lead to detrimental impaCoasr ARActs on farming, timber production and bio-diversity.

The Quantock Deer Management and Conservation Group (QDM&CG) is committed to ensuring the longterm survival of a healthy and well-distributed population of Red deer in and around the Quantock Hills in balance with its environment and other land uses.
